Criminal & Civil Defense Lawyer
Tim graduated UW – Madison Law school in May of 2005 and is a member in good standing of both the Illinois and Wisconsin bar associations. While in law school he was able to represent clients charged with criminal offenses under the student practice rule in Wisconsin.
His first employment as an attorney was at the Public Defender’s office in Kane County Illinois. Tim began work there on January 4, 2006.
As an assistant public defender, Tim handled a heavy caseload of misdemeanor and felony cases. During his more than seven years as an assistant public defender he was stationed in a number of different courtrooms including; domestic battery, driving under the influence, traffic and misdemeanor, abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, and a general felony call. He has conducted and won a number of both jury and bench trials.
This is what he has to say about his time as an assistant public defender: “The heavy case load when you start as an assistant public defender is an invaluable learning experience. On my second day I had over 500 cases assigned to me and I was forced to sink or swim. A few weeks later I conducted my first jury trial as the primary attorney and my client was found not guilty of domestic battery. I am happy to have worked in the public defender’s office. Now that I am in private practice I have more time to dedicate to each individual client.”
Tim has lived in Illinois his whole life, other than when attending college and law school. He is a lifelong Chicago sports fan and a committed fan of the underdog.
In April of 2013 Tim left the Kane County public defender’s office and began his own law firm. He is excited to be partnering with his fellow UW alum Brett Appelman and he looks forward to fighting for you.
