We are pleased to announce that Brett Appelman has been voted a Rising Star by SuperLawyers.com! This is the second year in a row that Brett has earned distinction as a Rising Star. Congrats to Brett and the rest of the team at Appelman Law.
Rising Star Selection Process
Super Lawyers is a premiere rating service of lawyers who go above and beyond the call of duty. They evaluate attorneys across the United States in more than 70 different practice areas. Each year, Super Lawyers puts together a list of lawyers who meet the criteria of a Super Lawyer or a Rising Star. Attorneys are nominated by colleagues throughout their state.
After the nomination process, the attorney-led research team at super Lawyers examines the nominees looking for honors, favorable case results, credentials and much much more. The 12 factors that help determine if an attorney should move on to the next stage of the selection process include:
- Representative clients
- Special licenses/certifications
- Position within law firm
- Bar and/or professional activity
- Pro bono and community service
- Scholarly lectures/writings
- Education/employment background
- Other outstanding achievements
After a thorough evaluation by Super Lawyers and by peers, the winners are announced. Those who aren’t named to the Super Lawyers list, but who fit the criteria for a Rising Star award, are then put through the Rising Star evaluation process.
The process is the same, but only attorneys under the age of 40 or who have been in practice for 10 years or less are eligible to be named a Rising Star. Anywhere up to five percent of attorneys are named Super Lawyers, but only 2.5 percent are named a Rising Star. So once again, congrats to Brett Appelman and the team at Appelman Law.
